STYLISH 6 or 8 ply OPAL HAT

To fit average size head. 1 x ball Opal 6 or 8 ply yarn. Pair 4mm needles. Embellishments.

MAIN PART OF HAT
Cast on 47 stitches.
1st row: knit. 2nd row: purl. Repeat these two rows until work measures 56cm from beginning. Cast off loosely.

TOP OF HAT
Cast on 112 stitches. 1st row: knit 2nd row: purl
3rd row: K1, * K8, K.2tog., rep. From * to last st., K1.
4th and alt rows: purl
5th row: K1, *K7, K2 tog., rep. From * to last st., K1.
7th row: K1, * K6, K2 tog., rep from * to last st., K1.
9th row: K1, * K5, K2 tog., rep from * to last st., K1.
Continue dec in this manner until 24 sts remain.
18th & 20th rows: purl
19th row: K1, (K2 tog) eleven times, K1.
21st row: (K2 tog) six times, K1 (7 sts)
Break off wool, run end through remaining sts., draw up and fasten off.

TO MAKE UP
Back stitch side seam and top part of hat tog. Turn 4 stitches to wrong side and slip stitch. Slightly gather side seam of main part of hat. Press lightly. Attach embellishments at lower part of hat.
