WOW! 8ply OPAL CHILD'S JUMPER
Materials: 3 balls Opal 8ply, pair 3.25 & 4mm knitting needles. Back: (Garment knitted sideways) Using 4mm needles cast on 18 (22, 26, 30) stitches. 1st row: Purl. 2nd row: Knit to last 2 stitches, P2. Repeat these two rows whilst increasing 1 st every 6th row on the plain side until 29 (33, 37, 41) sts. Knit until 17 (21, 26, 30) cm from beginning. Shape body as follows: At the same edge as sleeve increases, cast on 36 (38, 46, 50) sts. (65, 71, 83, 91) sts. Work 32 (36, 38, 42) rows. *** Shape neck as follows: Cast off 5 sts at beg of next row, then dec at neck edge in every alt row 3 times (54, 60, 72, 80) sts. Work 37 (37, 41, 41) rows. Inc at neck edge in next row and every alt row twice. Work 1 row. Cast on 5 sts at beg of next row (65, 71, 83, 91) sts. Work 32 (33, 38, 42) rows. Shape sleeve as follows: Cast off 36 (38, 46, 50) sts at beginning of next row, (29, 33, 37, 41) sts. Decrease to match the increases you made on the other sleeve. Cast off Front: Work as given for back to ***. Shape neck as follows- Cast off 29 (31, 31, 33) sts at beginning of next row, then dec at neck edge in every alt row 3 times. Work 37 (37, 41, 41) rows. Inc at neck edge in next row and each alt row twice. Work 1 row. Cast on 29 (31, 31, 33) sts at beg of next row. Complete as given for back. Finishing: Sew up top edge of one sleeve. Using 3.25mm needles, pick up stitches evenly around neck edge approx 117 (121, 125, 129) Knit st stitch for 12 rows. Cast off loosely. Sew up other top sleeve edge. With 3.25mm needles pick up stitches evenly around sleeve bottoms. Knit st stitch 8 rows or length required. Cast off loosely. Sew up one side seam on body. Using 3.25mm needles pick up stitches evenly around bottom of jumper approx 126 (130, 134, 138) sts. St stitch for 12-15 rows, cast off loosely. Finish sewing up and press lightly.
