Attractive Beret
Materials: 1 x ball Opal 8ply, pair or circular 4mm needles.
Size: Fits average size head
Cast on 90 stitches. Rib 4 rows.
5th row: *K 8, increase once in next st., repeat from * to end of row.
6th & alternate rows: Purl
7th row: *K9, increase once in next st., repeat from * to end of row.
Continue increasing in this manner in every alternate row, until there are 180 stitches on needle.
Work 9 rows in stocking stitch without shaping.
Proceed as follows:
1st row: *K16, K2 tog., repeat from * to end of row.
2nd row. Purl
3rd row: *K15, K2tog., repeat from * to end of row.
Continue decreasing in this manner each alternate row until 20 stitches remain.
Next row: Purl
In following row: *K2 tog., repeat from * to end of row.
Break off wool, run end through remaining sts., draw up and fasten securely.
To make up: Press lightly. Back stitch seam if required. Sew a button or embellish as illustrated.
